As Christians, we are commanded to forgive others who have mistreated or wronged us. Recently, I have pondered – “What does God’s Word say about how to forgive”? As I studied, these verses helped me to better understand the “mechanics” of forgiveness, and more clearly see what was expected.

+++ Pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44)

+++ Love them without hypocrisy (Romans 12:9)

+++ Bless them and do not speak poorly of them – or curse them (Romans 12:14)

+++ Never repay their offenses with revenge, be at peace with all men (Romans 12:17-19)

+++ Do not rejoice when they stumble, or celebrate their failures (Proverbs 24:17)

+++ Treat them the way that you want to be treated (Luke 6:31)

+++ Stop dwelling on the hurts and failures of the past (Isaiah 43:18)

(This one is HARD to do!!!)
I realize that this is somewhat different than just one verse or passage to dwell on, My hope is that it is useful for you as you seek to follow God’s command to forgive. For me, this helps me to see and ponder what God would have me do when forgiving others. God bless you and your family as you seek to grow spiritually. God LOVES you – and so do we.
