What great love the Father has lavished on us

1 John 3:1-2

See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

 Dear family, let us always remember our true condition together in Christ. Because of God’s love for you and through Jesus’ redeeming sacrifice we are now members of His family! Our Holy family ties in Him are more real and more lasting than our fleshly family! This changes how we treat one another, how we pray for and encourage one another to grow in Him and carry each other’s burdens.

 We should not be surprised that the world (even members of our own family) do not understand us, they mock us, even attack us because that is how they treated Jesus. Our values, our allegiances, our priorities are simply no longer the same. Because the world is in direct rebellion against God and His authority their hearts and minds simply cannot see us through the lens of Christ.

 Yet, even though we are still not perfect, we still struggle with our own personal sin, let’s encourage one another to let Him grow and mold us in His image, with the hope for the day of perfection when Jesus returns.

 How exciting that day will be! No one will be able to argue against us anymore because Jesus will be on full display in all His glory!

 That day is real and I pray that it is soon!

Let’s together look toward that day with hope and joy!
