Pray Like it is up to God
In chapter 4 of Nehemiah, the wall in Jerusalem is starting to be rebuilt. But soon the entire project is threatened by outside opposition. Nehemiah responds with a combination of prayer and preparation. I have heard it said “Pray like it’s up to God then act like it’s up to you”. These words are nowhere found in Scripture, but they contain more than a little truth. God has repeatedly told us to take our problems and anxieties to Him (Philippians 4:6) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. But once you have prayed through your problem, don’t expect angles to finish the task for you. Finish the task God has gave you. (Philippians 2:12-13) “Continue to work… for it is God who works in you”.
