Selah – What is it?  What does it mean?

Selah appears in the KJV Bible 75 times . . . 71 times in the book of Psalms.

Selah in Hebrew is “sele” (pronounced “sell-eh”) and means 1) to lift up or exalt, OR

2) A technical musical term showing accentuation (look at this again, more closely) or

Pause (consider further, ponder).     Definition #2 is probably how it is meant in Psalms.

Psalm 3:4 I cried out unto the Lord with my voice, and He heard me out of His holy hill.

Psalm 3:8 Salvation belongs to the LORD, Thy blessings be upon Thy people!

Psalm 4:2   O, sons of men, how long will you turn My glory into shame?  How long will you love what is worthless, and aim at deception?

And, two of my favorite verses from Psalms

Psalm 34:8   O, taste and see that the Lord is good, how blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.

Psalm 46:10   Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

My prayer for you - - as it is for me - - is that you would take time each day to quietly reflect on, and ponder – really deeply think about - - God’s Word; and all that God is doing in your life and the lives of your loved ones!!  God bless each of you in a mighty way.

Often, as I am in my quiet time of reflection, a worship song comes to mind - - -

All my life, You have been faithful

All my life, You have been so, so good

With every breath that I am able

I will sing of the GOODNESS OF GOD!!!

HALLELUJAH!!!!!!  God richly BLESS you and yours    ----       Cliff G
