Corporate Prayer

Acts 1:13-14 "When they arrived, they went upstairs to the room where they were staying. Those present were Peter, John, James and Andrew; Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew; James son of Alpheus and Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James. 14 They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brothers.”

Lately, the Lord has been moving me outside of my comfort zone in my walk with HIM. In my daily study of Acts, Acts 1:13-14 spoke to me. As a Christian for 29 years, corporate prayer has been something that I’ve always avoided for multiple reasons i.e. He knows my prayers, I pray each day, etc.. All of my reasons were invalid, but I would say my biggest fear was that it felt like public speaking. At previous churches I’ve attended, I can remember always thinking how sad it was that turn out for prayer meetings was only a few members when there were a total of a few thousand members. I’ve always understood the importance of prayer but pushed aside the importance of corporate prayer and made the excuse that it was not my gift. The Lord has been showing me the importance of prayer and to put aside any fear, embarrassment, or whatever reasons that cause me to miss out on blessings.

"Prayer produces unity and unity empowers prayer. When you pray with people, you experience a glorious unity which allows a greater release of blessing.” Jon Courson
