Selah

July 16, 2017
Selah from what I have read and learned is thought to come from two Hebrew words. S_lah, “to praise” and S_Lal, “to lift up”. Others believe it comes from Salah” to pause”.
I am certainly not well enough versed, nor am I qualified enough to know. So perhaps Selah is all three: “To Praise,” “To Lift Up” and “To Pause”. We praise God, we are here to lift up God and we come here to pause and love our God.
As I read Romans 4, it is clear that God’s promise to count Abraham as righteous and to give the whole earth to him and his descendants was based on a right relationship with God that comes by faith, not just his and our obedience to God’s Law. So the promise is received by faith. It is given as a free gift. Romans 4:16.
Wow! Faith in The Lord our God and we, through faith, as Abraham’s spiritual descendants, are counted as righteous and will inherit the Earth. Are you kidding? How can we not praise, lift up and pause today and every day to love God.
Blessings to all of you, go out in our world and let everyone know God’s promise to us to make us righteous through faith and inherit the Earth.
David
